Six-character formula

The Six-Character Jue was first seen in the "Records of Nourishing Nature and Prolonging Life" written by Tao Hongjing of the Liang Dynasty during the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Sun Simiao, the king of medicine, also practiced it as a method to strengthen the body and consolidate the original source of life.​

It mainly uses breathing to coordinate simple movements through the different pronunciations and mouth shapes of six characters: hush, heh, huh, ah, blow, and hee.
